Tropical Colors!

 Hope you've been having fun following along and stitching my Tropic Colors Geometric at Ridgewood Needlepoint!  Here are the lessons from the first 4 weeks:

New Stitch Monday With Ridgewood Needlepoint!

Ridgewood Needlepoint has one of the very best Needlepoint blogs on the web today, showcasing new canvases, great finishing and each Monday a new Needlepoint stitch!  I am so thrilled to have one of my geometric canvas designs, "Tropical Maze" featured for the latest "New Stitch Monday" series.  

I'm also really happy they are using this design to showcase small but fun stitches.  I am always a little stumped for a small stitch that is also interesting and dynamic.  I can seldom even think of more than a handful of small stitches, so I think this series will become a great reference for those of us who want to add to our library of smaller stitches.

Thought I should give a little update of what's new and upcoming!  The second design in my Stitch A Falling Star series is the Fox Star, he will make his debut later this month.  Here's a peek:

Looking further ahead to May 2016, my Uncle Sam's Happy Fourth of July will be taught at Fancy Stitches.  This is the third in a set of four of my seasonal banners that they have taught.

Updated My Website for 2016!

Great Christmas Finishing!

A New Look at Mod Ornaments

Thanks to Cleta R., a member of our Facebook Mod Ornaments stitching group,  I now have some very nice photos to share of this design done in traditional Christmas colors.  Sandy Arthur adapted her stitch guide for those students interested in an alternate to the painted pink and green color scheme, choosing threads in a red/green/gold collection.  Cleta has been busy stitching and has two ornaments completed:

Just wonderful! Cleta did a great job stitching and Sandy outdid herself coming up with a conversion that completely transforms the original canvas.  Kudos to you both!

My friend Connie has hers nearly complete and in the pink/green original color scheme:

Such fun!  I am still plugging away on mine, hopefully I'll have it done in time for this Christmas!

More West Coast Finishing!

Here are a couple more cute finishes for you, this is my Harvest Owl, mounted on top of a finial.  Thanks so much to West Coast for the photo! This is the first time I have seen one finished like this-- I like it!  

This is my Garden Party Heart, stitched by Sue of West Coast Finishing.  I am so happy that she finds some time to stitch for herself, and that she picked one of my designs too!  Notice that she had it beautifully framed-- if I were a finisher, I'd probably have my stuff framed too-- I mean, no one wants to do their own finishing, right? 

A Mod Ornaments Finish!

The first one to the finish line is Patricia R., one of the members of our Facebook stitching group.  Congrats to her, it looks simply amazing!  She added a lot of her own personal touches to the design, making it extra special.  Now to get back to work on mine!

Two More CandyLand Christmas Finishes!

Wow!  Everyone seems to have finished their CandyLand Christmas Tree Forest canvas except for me!  Well, there is a benefit to being a straggler, I get to see how everyone else has finished theirs, so can make the most "informed" decision when I finish mine.  However, at this point after seeing so many options I think I've changed my mind a half-dozen times already!  It may come down to a coin toss eventually, lol!

A Little Bit of Finishing

I haven't shared finishing photos with you for a while, here's a few I received from Pat W. recently.  She stitched my Harvest Puzzle and found the best Vera Bradley tote to attach it to:

The color match to the bag is just perfect, I love it!

These two Atomic ornaments are stitched and now currently at the finishers, I'll show them off again when they come back.  In the meantime, you can get a good look at Pat's lovely stitching:

Home Again (For a Little While Anyway!)

I had a fantastic time in Glen Rose, Texas at the annual Fancy Stitches Retreat (which has been going on since the late 1980's, making it one of the most long-running retreats of it's kind in the country!) I even finished two things, but I can't show them off here yet, sorry!  Great company, great food and great stitching, what could be better?  Thanks so much to both Fancy Stitches and my retreat buddies for all the gifts and goodies that they showered us with all weekend too!

I do have some stitching to show off though, since I haven't had time to stitch on Mod Ornaments lately, I have a couple of photos from Mary Ann who has done a great job stitching two of her ornaments:

I'm off to Charleston, SC this weekend for a little trip with my hubby, (who I have barely seen this month), but I'll have some new finishing pictures to share next week!

Sandy's Finished Mod Ornaments!

Mod Ornaments Mystery Class came to an end this month with lesson 6 and Sandra Arthur has treated us with a photo of the finished design, complete with a really inspired background stitch!  I am still trying to finish Lesson 3, so don't worry, you'll still be seeing updates from me as I continue to work on mine.  Also I'm happy to share that Sandy is keeping the Facebook group page open for all of us stragglers as well!  

Beading Away on Mod Ornaments!

Lesson 4 of Mod Ornaments Mystery will be out soon, but I am still working away on Lesson 3, the Peyote beading. No complaints here, I'm just glad to be almost caught up! Also, Peyote beading is much more fun to do on needlepoint canvas than the more traditional (in-hand) way. Thank you Sandra Arthur for coming up with this idea, I can't wait to try it out on another canvas!

Oh, and I did get fancy again and changed something-- rather than stitch the body of the ornament entirely in Soie Cristale, I mixed in some Silk Lame' Braid for the upright stitches.  Yes, more sparkle!
